Francesco Schettino, former captain of the Costa Concordia cruise liner, returned to the ship on Thursday for the first time since it sank just over two years ago with the loss of 32 lives.
The former captain returned to the vessel accompanied by a court-appointed team of experts investigating the capsize as part of his trial for multiple charges including manslaughter, causing a shipwreck and abandoning ship.
