The Canadian Naval Ship HMCS Toronto, which is part of Operation ARTEMIS stopped another narcotic shipment during a patrol in the Indian Ocean on 17 January.

The drug seizure operation took place about 40 nautical miles of the coast of Tanzania, where HMCS Toronto stopped a vessel with 256 bags of heroin (about 280 kilograms) onboard.

This is the ninth narcotics shipment disruption for HMCS Toronto since her integration into Operation ARTEMIS based in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.

HMCS Toronto joined the Operation ARTEMIS on January 14th 2013, when she departed her homeport of Halifax, Nova Scotia with a goal to detect, deter and protect against terrorist activity in her area of responsibility.
