Maroochydore Flypast for Summer Skyshow
Originally shared by +Royal Australian Air Force
A C-17A Globemaster aircraft will perform a flypast of Maroochydore for the Summer Skyshow on Saturday, January 23.
The aircraft will conduct two passes over the Cotton Tree Park area. The first past will be east to west before turning to the north and repositioning for the final pass on a southerly course.
The two flypasts will provide a great opportunity for the public to take photos of the aircraft. The flypast will begin at approximately 4:00 pm and be at an altitude of 100 metres.
This sortie may be delayed or cancelled at short-notice, and is subject to variables such as weather, operational availability and air traffic.
RAAF Base Amberley’s Number 36 Squadron operates eight C-17A aircraft. The C-17A is a heavy transport aircraft and allows Australia to rapidly deploy troops, supplies, combat vehicles, heavy equipment and helicopters anywhere in the world.
Number 36 Squadron regularly conducts training and operational flights over South East Queensland and appreciates the support it receives from the local residents.
The Hot91.1 McDonalds Summer Skyshow is a family day event held at Cotton Tree Park in Maroochydore.
