The F123 Brandenburg class is a class of German frigate. They were ordered by the German Navy in June 1989, and then completed and commissioned between 1994 and 1996 to replace the Hamburg-class destroyers. These frigates primarily carry out antisubmarine warfare, but they also contribute to antiaircraft warfare defenses, the tactical command of squadrons, and surface-to-surface warfare operations. Their design includes some stealth features
Currently the F123 class is being upgraded under the auspices of the Fähigkeitsanpassung FüWES (FAF) project. The primary component being upgraded under this program is the Combat Management System, for which a version of the Thales Nederland TACTICOS system will be used. The ships will also receive an IFF upgrade, to the EADS MSSR 2000 I secondary radar system. However, its primary radars, specifically its long-range 2D search radar, the Thales Nederland LW08, and its medium-range 3D surveillance radar, the Thales Nederland SMART-S, are to remain. The ships were to receive low-frequency active sonars under the Franco-German LFTASS programme but the French withdrew in 2000[2] and are now using a derivative of the British Sonar 2087; Bayern received the prototype TASS 6-3 sonar but it seems unlikely that more units will be ordered in the current budget environment.

If you look closely, you can determine which of these was the last American piston-engine fighter ordered into production by the USAAF. It was to be used as a very long-range (VLR) escort fighter. The F-82 made the longest nonstop flight ever made by a propeller-driven fighter in a flight from Hawaii to New York without refueling. A distance of 5,051 mi (8,129 km) in 14 hours and 32 min at average speed of 347.5 mph (559.2 km/hr). The non-fighter is Grady Thrasher’s Twin Ercoupe built in 1946 to be flown in the “Thrasher Brothers Aerial Circus.” It could loop and spin and was handy on family trips. Father and son in one cockpit, mother and daughter in the other.

First flight of the Vought SB2U Vindicator.
The Vought SB2U Vindicator was a carrier-based dive bomber developed for the United States Navy in the 1930s, the first monoplane in this role. Obsolete at the outbreak of World War II, Vindicators still remained in service at the time of the Battle of Midway, but by 1943, all had been withdrawn to training units. It was known as the Chesapeake in Royal Navy service….

Junkers Ju 88A-4, EE205, of No. 1426 (Enemy Aircraft Circus) Flight is started up at Collyweston, Northamptonshire. Originally 4D-DL of 3/KG30, the aircraft landed by mistake at Broadfield Down airfield (Lulsgate Bottom), near Bristol, after a night raid on Birkenhead on 23/24 July 1941. It was taken on charge by the Royal Aircraft Establishment and, after tactical trials with the Air Fighting Development Unit, was flown to No. 1426 Flight, then at Duxford, on 28 August 1942. In 1945 EE205 was transferred to the Enemy Aircraft Flight of the Central Fighter Establishment at Tangmere, Sussex, and finally to No. 47 Maintenance Unit for storage in November 1945. German markings have been temporarily re-applied to EE205 for film work.

Poland Willing To Compromise To Strike NATO Deal
Poland’s foreign minister says his country might be willing to soften its opposition to Britain’s welfare plans for EU citizens living in the UK, but only if London agrees to help bolster NATO troops permanently based in Poland. Poland has been fiercely against Mr Cameron’s plans to limit the amount of in-work benefits EU migrants can claim while living in Britain. But now Poland’s foreign minister has said his country might be willing to com…
