HMAS Choules have their cake and eat it - to celebrate 10th anniversary

It was a case of ‘having their cake and eating it’ for the ship’s company of HMASChoules today as they celebrated the 10th anniversary of the ship’s launch in the United Kingdom on 18th July 2003, the date she was first sent down the slip way.
Seven different cakes were pieced together to make up a puzzle, symbolising the range of Australian Defence Force elements that make up the ship’s amphibious capability.
A big thanks went to the Choules night cook Able Seaman Cook Keely Finn who was the key designer and creator of the cakes.
Choules is currently involved in Exercise Talisman Saber 2013, a biennial training activity jointly sponsored by the US Pacific Command and Australian Defence Force (ADF) Joint Operations Command to train the US 7th Fleet and Australian Deployable Joint Headquarters staff as a designated Combined Task Force.
The Australian Government purchased HMAS Choules, formerly RFA Largs Bay, from the United Kingdom in April 2011. More information about HMAS Choules is available on the Royal Australian Navy website at http://www.navy.gov.au/hmas-choules.
