The Army’s Household Division is providing a spectacular ceremonial welcome to the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins and his wife Mrs Sabina Higgins, as they arrived in Windsor for the first ever Irish State Visit to Britain.
More than 850 personnel, 275 horses and Irish Wolfhound were working in support of the state visit. The troops were drawn from Headquarters London District and the Household Division and commanded by Major General Edward A Smyth-Osbourne CBE.
