Battleship USS Iowa originally shared:
March 29, USS Haddo (SS 255) torpedoed and sank Japanese army cargo ship Nichian Maru in South China Sea. Also on this date, USS Tunny (SS 282) torpedoed the Japanese battleship Musashi off Palau, which necessitated repairs in Japan, during which her anti-aircraft firepower was enhanced. Note, Musashi would be later sunk by U.S. Navy carrier aircraft during the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea on 24 October 1944.
