USS Kidd to Search for Malaysian Plane in Indian OceanUSS KIDD

The U.S. Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, USS Kidd, has been ordered to the Indian Ocean to search for the Malaysian missing plane, according to the Agence France-Presse.

The search for the Malaysian lost flight was switched to the Indian Ocean amid reports that the plane kept “pinging” a satellite after it lost radar contact.
USS Kidd, which was initially sent to the Gulf of Thailand to search for the lost jet, is transiting the Strait of Malacca en route to the Indian Ocean, a navy official told the Agence France-Presse.
She is the second US Navy ship to be deployed in the search. The destroyer joined USS Pinckney, and more than 40 other ships and 32 aircraft from Malaysia, Australia, China, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines taking part in the search.
The lost Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was carrying 12 crewmembers and 227 passengers.
