One Dead, One Injured in Shipyard AccidentMAZAGON DOCK LIMITED

An Indian Naval officer was killed, and another injured at Mumbai-based Mazagon Docks Ltd, the Indo Asian News Service (IANS) reported citing local officials.

 
The officers are said to had inhaled carbon dioxide gas, which leaked from one of containers during repair works on INS Kolkata destroyer at the shipyard.
The INS Kolkata class of destroyers, the largest destroyers to be operated by the Indian Navy, comprises three ships – Kolkata, Kochi and Chennai, all of which are being built by Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) in India.
This is the second accident in two weeks in the Indian Navy after incident aboard INS Sindhuratna off the Mumbai coast, in which two officers lost their lives and seven sailors were taken ill.
Mazagon Dock Limited is India’s premier shipyard constructing warships as well as offshore platforms. The main activities of the shipyard are shipbuilding, ship repair and fabrication of offshore structures.
