China has recently developed a more advanced DF-25 medium-range ballistic missile based on the existing DF-21. The development follows India's unveiling of its Agni-V intercontinental ballistic missile, reports the Qingdao News website.
The range of the DF-25 is estimated at 3,200 kilometers, capable of striking at all major targets in the Asia-Pacific region, including the US military facilities at Guam, said the report. The DF-25 is also the first medium-range missile which can carry multiple conventional warheads.
The DF-25 can carry up to three warheads to strike multiple targets in a region. The report also said the use of the Chinese-developed Beidou Navigation Satellite System could allow precision attacks against US carrier strike groups along with the DF-21D, according to the report.
Qingdao News said the DF-25 can travel at an estimated 7 km/second, faster than the intercept ability of any American surface-to-air missile based in the Asia-Pacific region.
