Swiss offshore shipowner Promar Shipping Services has pulled the trigger today on an order for two new 3300 dwt platform supply vessels from Damen Shipyards Group.
Damen notes the first PSV 3300 will be delivered in February 2015 and the second in August of the same year.
The two vessels will be targeted for employment within the West African market according to Promar.   Olivier Meynis de Paulin, Promar’s Chartering Supervisor notes:
“West Africa is well-known to us. We have been chartering in this region since 2002 when we were established.
“Bringing the standards of the PSV 3300 to African countries will certainly be a valuable competitive edge. In addition, the design and the level of comfort proposed by these vessels are definitely an important advantage.”
“Damen is a prominent player in the shipbuilding industry with a reputation for delivering high quality, reliable, cost-effective vessels. This reputation was endorsed by our project managers, which naturally led to this partnership. The high standards and the dedicated commercial approach of Damen have been extremely satisfying.”

Commenting on his company’s future ambitions, Mr. Meynis de Paulin adds:
“We are aiming to enlarge our fleet in the coming five years, bearing in mind that Promar’s first priority is to offer its charterers high quality vessels. Our tailor-made, commercial approach will enable us to expand in a way where we can respond to real market demand.”
Andrea Trevisan, Damen Sales Manager Sales Area North, West and South Europe notes that this will be the first time that a PSV 3300 will be employed in the West African market and this is the first time Pronav has approached Damen for a new ship.
He notes, “We are delighted to welcome PROMAR as a valued new Damen customer, it is really exciting that a Swiss manager will be the first company to take this innovative vessel into the West African oil and gas market. This is a truly remarkable and courageous approach by PROMAR management, which we are very enthusiastic to support. It has been a real pleasure and constructive experience working on this project. We envisage that this will be the beginning of a long-term business cooperation, where quality is a strong focus for both companies.
