USS Donald Cook Prepares for New HomeportUSS DONALD COOK

The US Navy’s guided-missile destroyer USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) is preparing to depart Norfolk, Va. on 31 January and head to her new homeport, the WVEC.com informed.

 
The destroyer with about 340 sailors, 23 officers, 24 chief pretty officers and 291 enlisted, will be stationed at Spanish- based Naval Station Rota.
This 154-meter ship has a displacement of approximately 8,300 tons when fully loaded and can reach a speed of 30 knots.
Ray Mabus, Secretary of the U.S. Navy announced in February 2012, that four Arleigh Burke-class destroyers will be forward deployed to Rota, Spain.
Aside to USS Donald Cook, these include USS Ross and USS Porter, based in Norfolk, and USS Carney, homported in Mayport, Florida.
