HMS ILLUSTRIOUS WELCOMES VICE ADMIRAL ON BOARD, SINGAPORE The Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Philip Jones CB, has visited HMS Illustrious in Singapore.“I am immensely proud of what you have all achieved together.”HMS Illustrious had called into Singapore to replenish food, fuel and essential stores and to allow the ship’s company time to rest before continuing their journey home. Elements of the forces embarked in HMS Illustrious will also return home to pick up their operational programme after Christmas. HMS Illustrious has completed her contribution to Operation Patwin – the UK military contribution to the initial response to the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan over a month ago. The Fleet Commander congratulated all in HMS Illustrious for a job well done. He said: “I am immensely proud of what you have all achieved together. This really has been a joint effort representing everything that the Response Force Task Group was stood up to do.
